One day this summer, when Scott thankfully didn't have to work, we took a VERY long drive (according to the kids). Our destination was Minnetonka Cave. I had been there as a child and wanted the kids to experience it too. It is not a true caving experience because there are stairs throughout, but it is a good starter cave. There are more than 400 stairs one way. There is one flight that is 77 stairs straight. That one, going up, was a little bit of a challenge. It was a fun experience though! The kids didn't believe us when we told them they would need a jacket. They really should have brought a coat though. The cave is 40 degrees year round. Brrrr...
Someone was feeding the chipmunks goldfish while we were waiting to enter :)
Beautiful caverns awaited us at the bottom of our descent. The kids were fascinated by the science of it all. James, of course, knew how things worked, but had never witnessed the beauty for himself. Carter and Loreli had fun guessing the shapes and making up names for all of the formations.
